1. Chema Madoz is a Spanish photographer. He was born Spain in 1958 in the city of Madrid and was a pupil of Javier Valhonrat in the photography workshops of the Fine Arts Academy of Madrid. He studied History of Art at the Complutense University of Madrid. While he studied the history of art, he took photography classes on the side. His first individual exhibition was in Madrid in 1983. A list of his awards are
- Kodak Spain Prize (1991)
- National Photography Award (2000)
- Higasikawa Overseas Photographer Prize from the Higasikawa PhotoFestival (Japan) (2000)
- PhotoEspaña Award (2000)
2. Chema Madoz likes to partake in many different photography styles. Some examples of this are experimental, Object, and Portrait. The style that I chose to replicate was object, because some of his strongest work is object. I don’t think he really follows any famous artists or tries to recreate/borrow anyone’s style which is what makes him to unique. I not only believe that he is a great photographer, but I want to strive to be like him
3. While I feel like Chema’s photos don’t really say much through the picture, I feel like his ideas are expressed in the way he takes his photos. For example, in one of his photos there is a picture of a curtain being pulled and behind it is a trail. I think this represents there is adventure everywhere, you just have to look. Most of his work, while subtle, can often have hidden meanings. I believe this is present in every photographer, even if we don’t see it right away.
4. First off, I want to say that I really like Chema’s style. I like how he can make the simplest photos so deep. I really like how he does that and I really want to replicate that in my photos. I also very much enjoy his object photography. If I wanted to pursue a career in photography I would most likely do object photography.

6. Compared to Chema's photos, my photos don't hold a candle next to his. But for the sake of this project, ill compare them. For the first photo, it is of a match causally more burnt the farther down it goes next to a bunch of thermometer notches. I think that they both look very similar except for the fact that Chema's photo has a slight yellow tint. For the second photo, it is a picture of a match next to a knot in the wood that looks like a flame. This type of knot is very rare, so I tried my best to find a knot that looked like it. The original is very cool and is one of a kind. For the last photo, it is of an leaf in an apple. I really like this photo as it creates an effect that the apple stem is the leaf stem.
7. My images are all object photography. Most of the photos encompass balancing elements, this is shown in all the photos and gives it a great feeling. They all leave you with a special feeling that can only be expressed through photography. Not only do they tell a deeper meaning, but they make you feel. I hope that I can take what I learned from this class and apply it elsewhere.
